Marietta, GA May 1, 2015- The American Ambulance Association presented Leroy A. Davis, Paramedic of MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service with the Star of Life Award—the highest honor an Emergency Medical Service worker can receive. The award recognizes and honors the dedication of ambulance service professionals—people that stand out in every area of the industry.
The American Ambulance Association (AAA) represents organization serving more than 75% of the U.S. population with emergency and non-emergency care and medical transportation services. Each year they host the Stars of Life event in Washington, D.C. to publicly recognize and celebrate the achievements of their members. Mike Hall, AAA President stated, “These men and women of EMS are serving their communities, every day and at every hour, by providing vital medical care in emergency situations. When someone dials 9-1-1, there are a number of highly trained professionals ready to respond with excellent emergency medical care and our Stars of Life represent the best of the best.”
Leroy A. Davis has served as a Critical Care Medic with MetroAtlanta Ambulance for five years. After retiring from the Montgomery Fire Department as a District Chief after 32 years, Mr. Davis began a new career in EMS with MetroAtlanta Ambulance.
Mr. Davis brings a vast EMS knowledge, incredible work ethic, and sense of pride and professionalism to the industry. Paramedic Davis handles a majority of our critical care calls, including vent and ECMO transports. He maintains a high standard of care and is always willing to learn and teach others. Mr. Davis is well respected by his coworkers, peers, and the RN and MD staff he deals with on a daily basis. Mr. Davis is known for his compassion and ability to remain calm and in control of any situation. When not working, he enjoys running, biking, and all around physical fitness. He enjoys coaching youth basketball, teaching physical fitness, and staying actively involved in his Church. Mr. Davis is also passionately involved in fundraising for kids with Sickle Cell disease.
While in the nation’s capital, Davis joined his fellow class of 2015 Stars for three days of education and recognition on Capitol Hill. Mr. Davis met with members of congress and key congressional aides to discuss legislative issues critical to the Emergency Medical Service industry.
