MetroAtlanta Ambulance EMT Lisa Reno was recognized today by the State Office of EMS as the EMT of the Year at the Region III EMS Awards luncheon held at the Georgia Aquarium.
Lisa’s career in EMS began as an Emergency Medical Technician in 2003 with MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service. She maintains several specialty certifications including Basic Cardiac Life Support Instructor, National Safety Council Defensive Driving Instructor and Emergency Vehicle Operator Course Instructor. In addition to working 12-hour shifts as an EMT, Lisa, as Field Training Officer precepts EMS Academy students, evaluates newly hired EMT employees during their orientation period at MetroAtlanta Ambulance and assists in providing monthly EMS continuing education, training and skill evaluations.
In 2008 Lisa organized a team of MetroAtlanta Ambulance employees for the 2008 American Cancer Society Relay for Life. The team under her leadership raised over $9,000 for the cause. She personally was responsible for raising more than $3,000 and was recognized by the American Cancer Society as the Rookie Team Leader of the Year for her efforts and is currently leading MetroAtlanta Ambulance’s team for the 2009 Relay for Life. During the Thanksgiving Holidays Lisa contributed to the MetroAtlanta Ambulance Adopt a Family project and in addition, adopted a family from her Church and provided them with a complete Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinner. She wrote personal Christmas Cards for all the residents at two Skilled Nursing Facilities and is actively involved in teaching EMS Career Days at the local schools in our community and working standbys for local athletic events.
Metro Atlanta Ambulance Vice-President Devan Seabaugh stated, “Lisa is a kind, compassionate person that cares about others and enjoys giving back to others. Last year she was instrumental in starting and teaching a CPR training program for the Young Marines Squadron located on the Dobbins’ Air Reserve Base and is always volunteering her time, talent and treasure to make things happen within the organization and in the community. She is passionate about her job as an emergency worker, about our company, her co-workers and this community as a whole and just really goes above and beyond those of most EMS workers. We are excited to call her our own and extremely pleased to see her recognized by the EMS community for all her efforts as well.”
